The medium is the message.

There is much to be said about the delicate act of combing through magazines, collecting disparate parts, and then bringing those parts together to create a cohesive image. You could give two people the same materials to create a collage with and end up with two very different, yet equally compelling final results. Similarly, individuals viewing the same collage will extrapolate their own unique meaning from the image before them. This is what fascinates me the most about collage- there is so much to be read between the lines, between the pieces. To collage is to find the balance between random chance selection and deliberate placement; enabling something entirely new to be born that is worth more than the sum of its parts. Each collage is a signature of the artist behind it, a fractal image born of the moment, never to be repeated or replicated again.
